Art Is an Excuse: Conceptual Strategies, 1968–1983

Dr. Kellie Jones will deliver the 2019 Wyeth Foundation for American Art lecture based on a book in progress that looks at international conceptual art networks and the making of global community in the late 20th century. The lecture will focus on performance art, considering moments in its global reach in the 1970s in locales from Mexico City to London to Los Angeles, including projects by artists Felipe Ehrenberg, Lourdes Grobet, Adrian Piper, Senga Nengudi, and David Lamelas.
